Play on the Pitch tournament is back for 2024.
The proceeds of our annual Six-a-Side Festival of Football go towards our Zambia Community Development projects.
Our agreement with Livingstone has seen the Foundation team deliver a Coaching Education Programme and a Youth Tournament, whilst engaging and delivering sessions in local schools and communities.
We’ve been proud to install solar lighting in local schools, giving children the ability to study for longer hours during the day, and we’ve also had the opportunity to deliver disability coaching projects, with the opportunity of coaching, match experience, and refereeing tutoring for young referees.
During our time in Zambia, our coaching team have worked with hundreds of youngsters and Zambia Association Coaches, with the word of Swindon Town Football Club being spread far and wide.
The Foundation have supplied the Livingstone Coaching Association with footballs, kit and equipment, which is shipped over to the country thanks to the help and contributions from DHL. We’re currently accepting donations from the Swindon community, which we’ll be sending over soon.
Therefore we will be organising a Six-a-Side youth Football Festival in 2024 on the weekend of Saturday 11th May and Sunday 12th May to raise funds for our community projects in Zambia and to help develop the beautiful game in that part of Africa.
Tournaments will be held for under 9’s and for under 10’s on the Saturday morning and for under 11’s and for under 12’s in the afternoon. These will be on a league basis before going forward to a knockout stage with trophies for the winners and runners-up in each age group. There will be Football Fun matches for under 7’s and for under 8’s on the Sunday morning with all the participants receiving a memento of the day with additional awards for the most sporting team in each age group as voted by the referees. Matches will be played in the four corners of the County Ground pitch and players must have been under the stipulated age for their group on 1 September 2023. Clubs who are affiliated to their county football association can enter two teams in each age group which will have a maximum of 10 teams. The fixtures and times of matches will be made available nearer the Festival weekend and teams must report on the Saturday and Sunday morning at 9.00am and on the Saturday afternoon at 1.30pm. The Festival and Tournament are both 6 a-side events with each squad having a maximum of 9 players per squad.
We will only accept two entries per club per age group. These dates will also be dependent on Swindon Town FC's position at the end of the season finishing in the play off positions.
